A Whole tone: A B C# D# E# G. Formula 1 2 3 ♯4 ♯5 ♭7. Same notes as D♭ Whole tone, E♭ Whole tone, F Whole tone. Six notes all a whole step apart: no note stands out as home, so it sounds dreamlike and unresolved, as in Debussy. Only two different whole-tone scales exist.
