A♭ Whole tone: A♭ B♭ C D E G♭. Formula 1 2 3 ♯4 ♯5 ♭7. Same notes as C Whole tone, D Whole tone, E Whole tone. Six notes all a whole step apart: no note stands out as home, so it sounds dreamlike and unresolved, as in Debussy. Only two different whole-tone scales exist.
